Housing associations will be able to apply for funding in a new scheme ‘Plugged-In Households’  with financial backing from the Scottish Government . Residents will be able to hire electric cars when they are needed. It allows people to no longer have to own a private vehicle but to hire an electric one when required. The fund will be administered by Energy Saving Trust.

In Energy Voice yesterday: ‘Part of a quarter of a million investment, west coast firm Renewable Parts said it hopes the business will herald the “next phase in the industry’s development”…..The new £250,000 investment will see the firm connect with its aftermarket spares warehouse in Renfrew, near Glasgow, to provide a full turbine repair and recycle service.’

Electric cars could be charged in a matter of seconds using a revolutionary battery system developed by a team of Scottish scientists, it has been claimed. Researchers at the University of Glasgow have adapted nano-molecules so they are able to store either electric power or hydrogen gas, creating a flexible dual-output battery system.
