Demand For Glasgow Office Space Grows Dramatically

‘Glasgow’s city centre office market has experienced its best ever half year performance and is on track for a record year, according to property advisors. In the first six months of 2018, almost 583,000 square feet of office space was let, with 51 deals completed. Take-up has already surpassed the 10-year annual average of 492,335 sq ft and achieved 93 per cent of total take-up recorded last year at the half way mark. 2018 is set to be a record-breaking year for take-up.’

Scotland's Economy May Recover This Year

Scotland’s economy looks likely to recover this year, but experts have warned Brexit remains the greatest risk to that recovery. The Fraser of Allander Institute is forecasting a 1.2% increase in Scottish GDP in 2018 and 1.3% growth in 2019, which is more optimistic than the government’s official forecaster, the Scottish Fiscal Commission.

Scotland's Golden Opportunity To Attract Business Unmatched In UK

From the EY report on foreign direct investment (FDI) yesterday, the key findings are:

  1. A new record for FDI projects in 2017 for the third consecutive year with an increase of 7% compared to 2016
  2. Scotland secures its position as the most attractive location in the UK for R&D projects for a second consecutive year with an increase of 70% compared with 2016
  3. The digital sector experienced a 56% increase in FDI projects and was the second largest sector to attract investment into Scotland behind business services
  4. Manufacturing activity experienced a 25% increase of FDI in 2017 compared to 2016
  5. 2nd place ranking, behind London, as the most attractive place to invest in the UK
  6. FDI job creation increased by 104%, from 3,131 to 6,374
