The Scottish Crown Estate Bill was passed in the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 21st of November. The Scottish Crown Estate has considerable assets which as well as 37,000 hectares of land also controls leasing of virtually all the seabed out to 12 nautical miles and the rights to offshore renewable energy and gas and carbon storage out to 200 nautical miles

Scotland’s private sector economy is growing faster than the UK’s, according to a report from RBS. The bank’s PMI figures revealed that from October, Scotland’s expansion in private sector output was sharper than the UK’s. Scotland’s overall rate of job creation was also the fastest in four months and outpaced the UK average.

Their contribution to the Scottish economy grew by a staggering 76 per cent from £5 billion GVA in 2012 to £8.8 billion figure in 2015. The increase in the contribution to the UK economy was 40 per cent over that period. Scotland’s women-owned businesses are now responsible for creating 231,000 Scottish jobs, up from 153,000 in 2012.’"
